You'll have a better chance of success with some accountability. Consider asking a friend to join before you sign up!
You will get a team shirt :)

Students/faculty/staff/alumni from Gannon University, John Carroll University and Notre Dame College, as well as friends and family, have been running this race for four years.  Last year we had 80 people in our group.  This year we are going for 100.

Lodging is provided at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 2 minutes from the race starting line.  (You are strongly encouraged to bring an air mattress or sleeping bag!)  Most non-college students have been getting hotel rooms in the area so they get a better night of sleep.  You will also get a free team shirt to wear the day of the race with everyone's names on the back of the shirt.  If you are planning on utilizing this option you must send Jurell an email at

For those who are religious, there is also a faith/reflection component.  Each week we send out reflections (you will also be invited to write one) and there is a prayer service the night before the race at the Church where you will receive your race number and t-shirt.  The reason the e-mail is entitled "The Living Person" borrows from a quote from St. Irenaeus, who says the Glory of God is the human person fully alive.  One of the ways to glorify God is to take care of our bodies, to be fit, and to challenge ourselves beyond our perceived limitations.

What to post on social media:

  • Pictures and videos documenting your training!!

  • Some of your daily reflections from your time in prayer

  • Don't forget to use the hashtag #TheLivingPerson.

As always, remember that this isn’t a competition or a way to show off. If this is your intention then you’ve already lost. The Living Person is all about pushing yourself. How can you best improve the quality of your life? How can you strive to become fully alive? We can assure you that shortcuts are not the answer. Let's do this, fam!
